On A Hilltop

This is a college edition High Tea Adventure starring my sister Kelli and her friends Jenna and Amanda. They departed The Masters College in Santa Clarita, CA on foot the last day of finals and hiked up a hill that has a cross at the top of it.

On the menu was black tea, raspberry danish, and dark chocolates. Positively scrumptious!

The campus below. It looks like they had quite the view of the valley on this adventure. Good job girls! The High Tea Adventure Club is now officially a transcontinental club.

What is a High Tea Adventure?

These are the elements which will define a High Tea Adventure. The rest is up to the creativity of the Adventurers.

1. Real dishes. No paper plates or other such disposables or cheap plastic picnic ware. I'm currently searching consignment stores for an inexpensive, but pretty, collection of china for tea (tea pot, tea cups, saucers, etc). The idea is not to risk you fine china or to spend a lot of money. Cloth napkins preferred, but not necessary.
2. Dress to impress. Pull out that prom dress, learn a new knot for your tie. This is not a picnic. Plan for the weather, and you will probably want to wear hiking boots. Skirts can be tucked into jean pockets or you can make a quick change once at your destination.
3. Make it a tea. This could mean lemonade in summer, but you will want to have at least something dainty to eat and something tea partyish to drink. Use a thermos to keep the water hot until at your destination and then pour it into the teapot for serving.
4. Be respectful and clean up after yourself. Leave your tea location as if you had never been there, or cleaner if you found it spoiled.

Where you have your tea is up to you. I, personally, will be having mine in the woods for the most part, but there is no reason tea partiers can't show up any number of unexpected places. Of course, have fun. Don't turn it into a photo shoot, though by all means take some pictures. Take this as a time for socializing and relaxing. It is a tea party, after all.
